Abstract

This study is a work-in-progress account of ideas and propositions to investigate the association between workplace ostracism and Employee Creativity. In addition, we proposed the mediation and moderation impacts of employee engagement and introjected regulation. This article's conceptual framework draws upon Self-Determination Theory (SDT) to explain how ostracism thwarts basic psychological needs, leading to decreased intrinsic motivation and ultimately hindering creativity. We further discuss the potential negative effect of employee engagement and the contrasting role of introjected regulation. By outlining these propositions, this article aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the social dynamics within workplaces that influence employee creativity. It also highlights the importance of an inclusive and supportive work environment that promotes intrinsic motivation for creative performance. The article underlines the theoretical and practical implications. Furthermore, the limitations and focus of future investigation are highlighted.
